Library

Library is housed in a three storey building and has wide collection of the latest books; DVD, periodicals, which is expanded and updated year to year. The Library has open access system, where users can find out their required reading material. The Library is also subscribing the e-resources for the researcher. The Library has also an institutional repository. IR contains syllabi, conference papers, question papers, thesis, college publications, newspaper clippings and archived books. Faculty/ students may contribute their own publications to institutional repository. The Heritage archive, which collects, preserves and maintains the historical evidence of the institution’s history. It contains photographs, rare journals, rare books and annual reports.

All books are classified, catalogued, RF tags and bar-coded for better circulation and security. The ground floor houses the Arts & Commerce section, circulation section, reading room, newspapers & magazines section, search portal, resource centre and librarian room. The first floor houses the heritage archive, photostat/reprography section and postgraduate section. The Second floor accommodates the couns

eling cell, language lab and reading room. The third floor hosts the reading room, general books, science and technology books and journals.

Working Hours:

Library works from : 08 : 00 AM to 08 : 00 PM

(Monday to Saturday)

Circulation Section : 09 : 00 AM to 04 : 00 PM

(All Working Days)

Library remains closed on all Sundays and gazette Holidays.

Library Rules

Students shall maintain proper decorum and silence inside the library and its vicinity.
The students shall be required to show their identity card at the entry counter.
Student must scan their Id card and sign in the entry register kept at the entrance of the library.
In case a library card is lost, the reader shall make a written report to the librarian immediately. A duplicate card shall be issued.
Books would be issued for 14 days only.
A maximum of four books will be issued to PG students and two books to UG students.
Books shall be issued to the members on their library card only.
No personal belongings are allowed inside the library like bags, purse, helmets, personal books etc. The same shall be kept at the property counter near the library entrance at their own risk.
No person shall damage the library books/ materials. Damaged books shall have to be replaced by making payment.
A member who infringes rules shall be liable to forfeit this privilege of admission and borrowing of books from the library.
Reserved and reference books will not be issued.

Membership

The following are entitled to enroll themselves as members:

All Students and teachers.
Administrative staff of the concerned institute.
Outsiders (Alumni, Students, Retired Faculty and staff, Research Scholars from other colleges) are also permitted to use library facility for short period with the written permission of Principal. The outsider must have a letter from his/her concerned department/ institute.

Services and Facilities

Circulation Services:

Circulation service includes membership, issue, return, reissue of books/ reading material, issue of no dues certificate, lost books recovery, reminder/ alert service to users.

Reprography Services:

The Reprography service is available in library for students and faculty members at a nominal cost of Rs.1 per page and Rs.10/- for print out per sheet.

Reference Service:

The staff assists the users in locating the books/ periodicals, search books from OPAC, providing information on a topic, help to access e-journals/ books etc.

Current Awareness Services:

This service is provided to keep library users aware of the new books, journals and other resources. Printed books are being displayed at the current arrivals racks. List of newly added issues of printed journals put on the display board at the entrance of library.

Selective Dissemination of Information Service:

Selected information is provided as par the users requirement through SDI.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC):

The library is fully computerized. OPAC has been created to get bibliographic record of library resources. Computer is installed at the entrance to locate library resources. Users can search the resources in library and online from KMV website. (http://202.164.53.157:100/library/search)

Services to Blind/ Low Vision Students:

College has become a member of “Daisy Forum of India, Sugamaya Pustkalaya” an online library that enables blind students to use resources which are available online.

Internet / e-Journals and e-book Service:

The library provides user ID and its password to users for making use of e-resources INFLIBNET (N-LIST), DELNET, Daisy Forum of India (for Blinds/ visually impaired) and Digital library of India

Question Papers:

The library provides previous year’s exam(tenure papers) question paper in electronic as well as hard format is available in our college for reference purpose.

Books Exhibitions:

Library arrange book exhibitions and book fairs.

Wi-Fi Facility:

Wi Fi facility is available in library.

Suggestion Box/ Users Demand Register:

Suggestion Box is kept in the library once in a week it is opened. Users demand register is kept on the entrance of library. Users can write their demands in it.

Automation

The Library automation was done in 2011. The Automation software is BSIM. BSIM is a product of Bitfield Solutions, Amritsar. The product is designed to meet requirements of library. Depending upon the functionality, the product is divided into various modules.
