The course enables a student to make a smart entry into a variety of top-notch careers in industries like ONGC, Defence, Civil, Banking, Teaching and Research in DRDO, BARC, TIFR, IISC, IITs etc. The Department provides research facilities of a very high standards with many students pursuing M. Phil. & Ph.D. under highly dedicated faculty. Many research projects are also being carried out in the department in association with international & national agencies.

Semester – I

  • Punjabi(Compulsory)/ Basic Punjabi/ Punjab History and Culture
  • Communicative English-I
  • Mechanics
  • Thermal Physics
  • Mathematical Physics I
  • Organic Chemistry or Computer Fundamentals and PC Software
  • Physics Lab-I
  • *Foundation Course

1. Special paper in lieu of Punjabi (Compulsory) for those who have not studied Punjabi upto 8th/ 10th Class. .
2. Special paper in lieu of Punjabi (Compulsory) for those students who are not domicile of
Punjab.
*Credits/ grade points of these courses will not be added in SGPA/ CGPAof the semester/ Programme and only grades will be provided.
** Students will opt any one course.

  • Punjabi(Compulsory)/ Basic Punjabi/ Punjab History and Culture

  • Mathematical Physics-II
  • Inorganic Chemistry (Atomic Structure and Periodic Table)
  • Introduction to Programming in C
  • Physics Lab-II
  • Drug Abuse and Ethical education
